To test your sight, the video clip uses an optical illusion. It’s a hybrid image combined of two photographs: one of Marilyn Monroe at a low spatial frequency and another of Albert Einstein at a high spatial frequency which means it is more detailed. To find out if your sight is good enough, all you have to do is look at the image on your screen at a normal distance.
If you see Albert Einstein, your sight might be considered adequate or normal. If you see Marilyn Monroe, you might need to go to an eye doctor. To go a step further with this experiment, you could even step back a bit from your screen to observe this phenomenon.
Distance vs vision
From a certain distance, the eyes can’t perceive the precise details that characterise Einstein and the image of Marilyn Monroe starts to emerge. This somewhat distressing transformation says a lot about the fascinating evolution of the human brain and the way that it deals with images.
As for the quality of your sight, it is possible to evaluate your sight judging from the distance at which you start to see Marilyn Monroe. The greater the distance, the better your sight is.
