You loved watching them on repeat throughout your childhood, and you can now find (nearly) as much pleasure by reselling them. Those old Disney VHS tapes that you had put away many years ago in dusty boxes at the back of the attic could actually be worth a fortune, as The Sun reported after several searches carried out on online resale sites.

For example on eBay, the British newspaper has uncovered an advert for a collection of 10 videotapes of the classics, among which are The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Bambi, Cinderella, and even The Fox and the Hound. The selling price: £13,950. But obviously, there’s a reason for this price. These tapes are VHS “Black Diamond”, a limited edition sold by Disney between 1984 and 1993. They are recognisable by the little diamond present on the jacket sleeve, as GQ reports.
Another advert, also from the Black Diamond collection, presents an edition of The Beauty and the Beast dating from 1992, that collectors can afford for the trifling sum of £3,107. That’s half the price of this other limited edition of The Little Mermaid, available for £7,611. You know what you have left to do now.
