Update from 14th October 2020:
Months after the insane rumour was first released involving a Spider-verse that would bring Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield together in one movie, an announcement made by a Sony employee working on Spider-Man 3 confirmed what everyone was expecting.

At the beginning of October, Jamie Foxx, who played Electro in the Amazing Spider-Man saga alongside Andrew Garfield, announced in a post on Instagram that he would be reclaiming his role as the supervillain in Spider-Man 3.
Just a few days later, this Sony source also revealed that both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield have signed on to take back their former roles alongside Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the next Marvel movie.
Just like when we found out that Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, wanted to explore the possibilities of multiverses, like he soon will with Doctor Strange 2, aka Doctor in the Multiverse of Madness, we were incredibly excited when we discovered that the three Spider-Men would be appearing in the same film together.
Venom first, Morbius next
Spider-Man isn’t the first character to have been so successful in this area, but his enemies have been as well. It’s worth remembering that Venom was released in theatres in 2018 and Sony later confirmed that this adventure was far from over. Next year, Morbius will be the first to hit the screens on 5th August with Jared Leto in the title role. But although you might think that all these films would be individual and would stand alone, some hints seem to suggest the contrary.
A Marvel Spider-Verse creation
As we know, Marvel likes to make little references and nod their heads at their other movies and sometimes, nothing ever comes of it. But in the case at hand, there could be more to it. Cast your minds back to the last trailer released for Morbius in which the Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming, played by Michael Keaton, appeared, which suggested the possibility of a link between the Sony spin-off and the MCU.
Also in the Morbius trailer, fans spotted a poster with a photo of Spider-Man, in Tobey Maguire’s costume from the Sam Raimi trilogy, with the word murderer. This image appeared to be from Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man game that was released in 2018 for the PS4, the sequel to which everyone is eagerly awaiting. The mere mention of a murderous Spider-Man suggested that the story would take place after Spider-Man: Far From Home in which Peter went up against Mysterio.
Three Spider-Men in one movie?
A Spider-Man multiverse, now that is something that fans have been dreaming about and ever since the hints were dropped, they have been on the lookout for the slightest clue that would confirm their suspicions for good. And since Morbius is now filming again, fans have been spotting some more rather interesting details. First of all, a poster with the phrase ‘Where is Spider-Man?’ Which appears to relate to the sequel to the Spider-Man: Far From Home timeline. And then there’s the fact that the Daily Bugle logo that appears on the poster is the same as the one in Sam Raimi’s trilogy.
And since we also know that there was a rumour that Sam Raimi could be taking the lead on Doctor Strange 2, it seems that the character now has everything they need to create a multiverse. We’ll soon find out what kind of web Sony and Marvel are weaving (get it?) by connecting all the Spider-Man sagas for the upcoming MCU adventures.
