Fortunately, after 29 seasons, this great mystery has just been resolved by one of the writers. In his latest book titled 'Springfield Confidential: Jokes, Secrets and Outright Lies From a Lifetime Writing for The Simpsons,' the showrunner Mike Reiss explained why the characters were given their now-iconic yellow colour.
