As Gizmodo reported on Monday, Jan. 7th, this teenager from Utah had been trying out the #BirdBoxChallenge, a challenge born during the Christmas season on an idea from YouTuber Jake Paul, which consists of doing blindfolded actions (in reference to the Netflix movie 'Bird Box' with Sandra Bullock who spends almost the entire movie with a blindfold over her eyes).

The young American had the idea of driving a car ‘blind’ with a cap covering her eyes, which caused her to get into an accident! After changing course, her vehicle went into the other lane and collided with another car before hitting a post and then a wall. Fortunately, the young driver and her 16-year-old passenger came out unscathed from this accident, which only caused material damage.

Worried about this dangerous challenge which has been gaining momentum, Netflix made a point to send a message on Twitter for fans of this challenge. ‘I can’t believe I need to say this, but: PLEASE DON’T HURT YOURSELF WITH THE BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how it started, and we are happy about all this love for the movie, but Boy and Girl (the names of the two characters) have only one wish for 2019: that you do not end up in the hospital because of a meme,’ wrote the platform.
