I’m A Celeb 2020 star Shane Richie said he was hoping to lose a bit of weight by going on I’m A Celeb–but he got more than he bargained for when a trial made him so sick that he lost a whole stone. Whilst Shane’s illness was hidden from viewers, he’s since spoken out about how unwell he really was in the castle.

Shane told This Morning:
I lost weight because after I did the drinking challenge, 12 hours later, I was really ill. Thankfully they didn’t show it on telly because I didn’t want my family getting upset. I thought I was going to have to see a doctor. I had a few tablets and I had a dodgy stomach. So that’s kind of where I lost my weight.
What made Shane Richie sick?
It’s not exactly surprising that the aptly-named Sickening Stalls trial made Shane ill. The trial saw him having to neck glasses of Gore Berry Smoothie (blended sheep’s testicles), Eggs-spresso (blended fermented duck eggs), Zin Fanny Del (pig’s vagina, also blended), and Ass Pachio (blended sheep’s anus).
Shane also used his illness as ‘evidence’ that he couldn’t be the infamous ‘Phantom Dribbler’ of the camp since he says he was too ill to stand at the time. Instead, he pointed the finger at presenter Vernon Kay, who apparently has trouble aiming because of his height. According to Shane, Vernon asked them not to say it was him as he didn’t want his wife to know.
I’m A Celeb 2020 weight loss
Shane wasn’t the only one to lose weight during his time on I’m A Celeb 2020 – as the meagre diet of rice and beans left many of the campmates looking like a shadow of their former selves. Paralympian Hollie Arnold said she’d also lost almost a stone whilst opera singer Russell Watson lost 20lbs.
