If you were disappointed at the news that I’m A Celeb will be taking place in Wales again this year, you may want to give the show another chance. While producers have been unable to return to the jungle for the second year running, some big changes have been made to make this year’s series in Gwrych Castle tougher than last year’s.

More trials
Firstly, this series is set to last longer than last year’s shortened 20-day series. While the exact length of the series hasn’t been confirmed, we’re expecting it will return to 22 days in camp, as is the norm for all the series Down Under since 2015. What’s more, they’ll be squeezing in more trials than ever before—with the celebs set to face 24 Bushtucker Trials, up from the usual 20.
Executive producer Olly Nash told The Mirror:
The trials were limited last year and this time they are much closer to the Australian series in terms of scale. Absolutely they are harder and bigger and there are more trials over the series than ever before and more trialists taking part in terms of celebrities. That was the learnings of having one series here.
The Clink
This Sunday’s debut episode of I’m A Celeb 2021 will see the celebs split into two teams who will battle it out in a trial called Turrets of Terror. The winning team will then head to the main camp while the losers will be sent to The Clink - a new smaller area where the campmates will be more exposed to the bitter Welsh elements. They will be allowed to sleep inside - but they won’t have beds, they’ll be on the cold, hard castle floor.
