Before being an actress known for her role as Eleven in the 80's fantasy series, the 15-year-old was a child like any other. And her schooling was not always easy (see video above).
‘I was bullied at school back in England. So, it’s extremely important for me to speak out against bullying. I actually switched schools because of it, it created a lot of anxiety and issues that I still deal with today,’ said the actress to Orlando Bloom, who conducted the interview.
‘Like a disease’
Since the age of 9, Millie has been home schooled, which is also better for her life as an actress. But the bullying did not stop. Since becoming famous, Millie has endured nasty cyberbullying and trolling from people who don't even know her.
‘I'm dealing with situations, in real life and online, that can break people and it's really hurtful to read what some people say,’ she told the magazine.
The actress is very committed, she even became the youngest ambassador of UNICEF in 2018, when she was just 14 years old. ‘I want to fight negativity on social media - I was a victim - it's like a disease. It's hate and it really horrifies me,’ she said.
