While the UK series ofI’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! won’t be back for almost a year, the Australian version is in full swing—and one of our favourite former campmates is giving the jungle another shot. Joey Essex has entered the jungle as an intruder on I’m A Celeb Australia this week.

Where is I’m A Celeb Australia filmed?
I’m A Celeb Australia is traditionally filmed in South Africa. However, due to the pandemic, this year’s series is being filmed in Dungay, Australia, where the UK series is usually filmed - so Joey will be in familiar territory.

Joey has been introduced as an ‘international reality star—’ but many Aussies have been left scratching their heads as to who he is. It sounds like TOWIE isn’t such a big deal over there. He’s in the jungle with a number of Australian celebs that most UK viewers probably won’t have heard of, including singer-songwriter Brooke McClymont, presenter Dylan Lewis and Miss Universe Australia 2020 Maria Thattil.
Joey isn’t the first celeb to appear on more than one series of I’m A Celeb. While Katie Price remains the only celeb to have been a campmate on the UK version of I’m A Celeb more than once, others have been on international versions of the show too. Caitlyn Jenner appeared on the American series of I’m A Celeb back in 2003, sixteen years before joining the UK version of the show in 2019.
Meanwhile, Vicky Pattison appeared on the Aussie series in 2018, three years after she was crowned Queen of the Jungle on the 2015 UK series. While probably less well-known Down Under than in the UK, Vicky still managed to make it to fourth place—so there’s hope for Joey yet!
