Luckily, ITV has come out with an announcement that I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! will be returning to our screens this year.
Even better, ITV will also be releasing a special one-off documentary around the show called I'm A Celebrity: A Jungle Story which will celebrate the best moments of the show over its 19-year run.
Initially, due to fears surrounding the coronavirus, it was not sure whether the series would air a season this year and in May, tv show bosses had announced they were having 'crisis talks' to discuss the future ofI'm a Celeb. A source confided at the time:
I'm A Celebrity is six months away but bosses are holding meetings about how they can ensure it still goes ahead in the current climate. A raft of measures are being looked at.
The source continued:
One of the most recent plans was to employ a crew that is 95 per cent made up of Australian workers to overcome the issues surrounding flying to different countries and the quarantine restrictions. This would mean a lot of the show’s UK crew missing out on their annual big gig but ITV are having to seriously consider every option.
The source also stated that due to the ever-changing nature of the coronavirus ITV was having to consider every option for filming the show to ensure the safety of all the cast and crew.
I'm a Celeb has been a huge hit since it first started airing in 2002 averaging at 10 million viewers per episode. Last year's season which saw Eastenders star Jaqueline Jossa become the Queen of the Jungle was the most watched tv show of 2019.
