From victim of bullying to Queen of the Castle
But in an interview with The Sun after leaving the castle, Giovanna has revealed that her caring personality was shaped by a heartbreaking experience of being bullied as a child. She opened up about being a victim of both verbal and physical bullying at school between the ages of 7 and 9.
Blogger and mother-of-three Giovanna, who is married to McFly’s Tom Fletcher, told The Sun:
I was pushed into rose bushes, which were around the school. I can remember being backed into those and I would get thorns everywhere. It was never nice having a school nurse pick thorns out your bottom.
'I really care about people knowing that they’re not on their own’
Giovanna previously spoke about her experiences of being bullied back in 2017 in support of the anti-bullying campaign AntiBullyingPro. She said then that she was still ‘massively’ affected by the taunts about her weight and family as well as physical violence that she endured, including being pushed into a brick wall.
Ultimately, the bullying pushed Giovanna into applying for the Sylvia Young Theatre School–where she developed her creative talents and met her future husband Tom Fletcher. Now, Giovanna is an incredibly popular podcaster, presenter author of eleven books and Queen of the Castle to boot!
