As it turns out, theGwrych castle has not only been presenting celebrity competitors with cold weather and creepy crawlies, the crew has also faced their own tests as many have claimed to witness ‘horrifying noises and figures’.

It’s no secret that a 200-year-old castle may suffer from some slight ghostly activity but the menacing occurrences have now lead the IAC cast to refuse to film at night.
The I’m a Celebrityproduction staff have even claimed to see faces at the windows of some in the more run-down areas of the historic castle.
Production staff have now threatened to interrupt the filming of the hit show as they will only move around in groups after dark, which is obviously when all the good stuff happens.
A source confirmed the horrifying occurrences with The Sun:
People thought they saw a figure at one of the windows a couple of nights ago — and that spot has been pretty much off-limits ever since.
Another insider came forward admitting just how ‘terrifying’ the castle is, stating that some of the crew are becoming too scared to do their jobs:
The place is utterly terrifying at night. Several of the crew are completely horror-stricken and don’t want to go up to the castle. There are lots of lights on the main sets but there are also many dark areas behind the scenes and some noises are extremely spooky.
Even staff who don’t believe in that sort of thing are reluctant to go up to some parts that were supposed to be used for running equipment and camera positions. If people keep getting scared, bosses are going to have to do something to combat it.
The haunting of Gwrych castle
Legend has it that the derelict castle has long been occupied by the ghosts of previous residents.
Winifred Bamford Hesketh, Countess of Dundonald is the most well known of spirits within the 19th-century construction.
The countess inherited the castle from her father in 1894 and was married to Scots nobleman Douglas Cochrane. However, after dying of heart failure in 1924 her husband went out of his way to destroy any evidence of her.
Many believe the Countess now angrily wanders the castle watching and glaring at all those who pass by.
Mark Baker, chairman of the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust confirms that there have been many sightings of the Countess lurking in the castle’s corridors:
The countess has been seen quite a lot over the years. It’s such an atmospheric place, particularly at night. It’s so evocative that it incites one’s senses. If you’ve got a great imagination, you’ll start to step into the past.
IAC Wales proving to be highly popular
This season ofI’m a Celebfinally aired on Sunday the 15th of November and it opened to it’s highest viewing figures in seven years.
Over 10.9 million people tuned in to watch the first episode of the 2020 season with the episode peaking at 12 million viewers.
The star-studded survival series kicked off with faces such as Sir Mo Farah, Vernon Kay, Aj Pritchard and radio DJ Jordan North.
The new high figures have been welcomed after the show had been suffering from a drop in figures over the last seven years. Even within the last two seasons, the show had lost millions of viewers.
Looks like the change of scenery has proved hugely popular and with lockdown, there’s no doubt we’ll be tuning in every night!
