Lots of Game of Thrones fans were left gob-smacked by THE scene in the second episode of season 8, entitled ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’. Contrary to what you may think, it’s not about a bloody death of the death of a main character. No, this is about when Arya – played by Maisie Williams – had her first sexual experience with Gendry Baratheon. Episode 2 shows the potential last night for the living as they wait for the White Walkers to arrive. Arya – who really has grown up – didn’t want to die without first experiencing sex.

And that’s just it. Lots of viewers knew Arya as this little girl and lots of people were shocked to see just how much she’s grown up. The writer for Game of Thrones, Bryan Cogman, was very surprised by this as Vanity Fair reveals.
‘That’s what happens! […] Teenagers have sex, guys. Hate to tell you!’
Bryan Cogman explains that Arya has become a teenager.
‘Yeah, when you first started watching the show, she was a kid. But she’s not a kid anymore,’ and she’s trying to harness her sexuality. He also added that who we have seen acting like a serial killer is still just a ‘human being’.
‘She’s been so focused on one thing for so long, which is vengeance, and almost forgetting herself and what it is to be human. That was very much what the time at the Faceless Men was – it was about erasing humanity.’ A part of humanity that she consequently found in Gendry’s arms.
Maisie Williams also opened up about this.
‘It was really interesting because it’s a very human relationship for Arya. This is something she’s stayed away from, an emotion we’ve never really seen her engage with.’
Bryan Cogman explains that when he was writing this scene, he imagined Arya’s secret thoughts.
‘I want to be a human being. I want to be a woman. I want to experience this stuff, and I want to experience it on my terms.’
