Rumours have been stirring across the Atlantic. The second instalment of The Mask could soon be hitting our screens. With, as the main character, the same actor who played the marvellous man in the green mask in 1994, Jim Carrey. The 57-year-old actor could, in fact, be returning to take on the role of Stanley Ipkiss after 25 years.

Never without Jim Carrey
The website Movieweb has confirmed that the big bosses at Hollywood are ready to do anything to bring the green mask back to the big screen. The condition? Jim Carrey must be the one to take on the part. And it seems that he himself is interested in this opportunity. The actor has even said: ‘finally, I am in the mood to revisit a couple of things that I did.’
This is good news for fans of the actor and his unbeatable facial mimicry skills. It seems Jim Carrey now wants to reach a new audience, as he himself explained: ‘Kids are coming up to me about The Mask and Ace and all these things constantly. You know, [it’s a new] generation [of fans].’
‘I’d like to see a really good physical comedian’
Although in the United States, fans of the original film are getting ready to shout their joy from the rooftops, the creator of the first film, Mike Richardson, seems to have something else in mind. As it turns out, he wants a complete reboot of the film.
‘I’d like to see a really good physical comedian. I have one in mind, but I’m not gonna say her name. We have to do a lot of convincing for this particular actor, but we’ll see… You never know what’s coming in the future. We have some ideas.’ And that was all he wrote.
However, as of yet, nobody knows whether Cameron Diaz will be returning for The Mask 2. But nevertheless, we expect the sequel to be just as ‘Splendid’ as the original!
