A real act of bravery
On 6th August in Los Angeles, the 75-year-old actor witnessed a car accident. The driver ran a red light and collided with another car at full force. After the car flipped several times, it landed on its roof with the grandma and her grandson inside. The elderly woman tried but wasn’t able to get the little boy out, so she called out for help.
The actor immediately rushed to the scene like a superhero. With the help of two other people, he managed to get the child out of the car. The grandmother, the child as well as the other driver suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
‘He was panicked’
Trejo showed a lot of courage, he managed to calm the little boy down who was terrified because of what had just happened. He explained to the American channel ABC: ‘He was panicked. I said OK, we have to use our superpowers. So he screamed ‘superpowers’ and we started yelling ‘superpowers’ […] We got kind of a bond. I kept facing him away from the accident.’
Danny Trejo is used to being around children. When he’s not on set, the actor works as a volunteer with special-needs children. Always there for others, the actor was surprised that he was one of the only people to come to the victim’s rescue - which just goes to show that not everyone can be a hero!
