After the massive success of AM in 2013 and subsequent tour the next year, the group hailing from Sheffield decided to put things on the backburner for an indefinite amount of time much to the dismay of fans. According to their Instagram, it seems as though they’re gearing up for something... and something big.

To kick things off, the band officially announced their return to the festival scene and will play a date at American festival Firefly this June, co-headlining an already stacked line-up along with other artists like Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and The Killers. We know: not all of us can book off and afford to cough up the dosh for a holiday to America.
Fortunately for us, cryptic messages have popped up in a story on the band’s official Instagram that may be hinting towards further dates. Users on Reddit have pointed out that the numbers found within may point towards dates and geographic coordinates; specifically for Primavera, Best Kept Secret in the Netherlands, Mad Cool in Madrid, and most excitingly Waterloo Bridge in London on January 12th. Could it be true? Should we get excited?
Arctic Monkeys have been hard at work in studio preparing their new album since September of last according to bassist Nick O’Malley, so could this be the beginning of their return? Hard not to get chuffed at the idea of a new album and the chance to see the lads live in concert again. We’re keeping our fingers crossed.
