However, the Great British public came through for the Geordie duo yet again and fellow nominees Graham Norton, Bradley Walsh, Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield were left empty-handed as Ant and Dec accepted the award via video link from the London Palladium - where they are currently filming Britain's Got Talent auditions.
Ant and Dec were seriously emotional as they accepted the award, with Ant heaping praise on his partner for continuing solo throughout the year and for being 'the best mate'.
Not everyone was pleased with the pair winning, however, as many telly fans took to Twitter to complain about the decision. One wrote: 'How the f*** could Ant and Dec win a NTA when it was only "And Dec" for the past year?' whilst another complained 'In the one year where Ant & Dec weren't prominently featured on UK Television, they still walk away with the NTA for Best Presenter for the 18th year running. Not planning on giving anyone else some recognition?'
