According to Deadline, the prequel in question would take place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and would retrace the history, including the ascent and fall, of House Targaryen.
The series would focus on the ancestors of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington).
This project, which has been in development since autumn 2018, is based on George R.R. Martin's book Fire & Blood, published last November with the slogan: ‘300 years before Game of Thrones, dragons dominated Westeros.’
This novel tells the stories of the generations of Targaryens who fought to maintain the Iron Throne until the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. The project is written by George R.R. Martin in collaboration with Ryan Condal, producer of Colony and Rampage.
Game of Thrones remains to this day the most watched series on HBO with a record 10 out of 32 Emmy Award nominations.
