Autonomous cars have made leaps and bounds in the last few years, with companies like Tesla at the forefront of the self-driving revolution. Uber has embraced the autonomous car movement and has been launching tests across North America with their vehicles. As is the case with any test, there are bound to be hiccups.

In Arizona, USA, a woman crossing the street was struck by an Uber self-driving car. Elaine Herzberg, 49, crossed the street and was struck by the SUV going 40 MPH. Authorities say that the woman was not using a crosswalk and had in fact walked into a lane of traffic. The woman later died from her injuries in the hospital.
Early reports say that the self-driving car and Uber are not at fault in this situation, yet a formal investigation is still necessary. Authorities claim that this accident would have just as easily occured had it been a human at the wheel. Regardless, the negative press from this incident could very well cause a setback in testing.
