The car, which was nicknamed Cybertruck, was inspired by Blade Runner, Ridley Scott's science fiction film. In fact, Elon Musk had promised Tesla fans a 'futuristic-like cyberpunk, Blade Runner pickup truck.'
The stunning video presentation introduced the car as an ultra-durable vehicle that could withstand sledgehammers and bullets.
'Franz throws steel ball at Cybertruck window right before launch. Guess we have some improvements to make before production haha.' Twitter - @elonmusk
At any rate, the smashed glass was just one moment in an event which gave viewers plenty to talk about without the on-stage mishaps. The divisive design and impressive specs of the Cybertruck have caught the world’s attention, and since the unveiling Musk has been drip-feeding bits of information on Twitter to keep people engaged.
But, as it turns out, the car isn't so "bulletproof" after all. During the live presentation, Elon threw a metal ball at the window and, much to the surprise of the attendees, smashed the window.
"Oh my f * cking god. Well, maybe that was a little too hard. We'll just fix it in post," the millionaire said, as the crowd laughed.
