The origins of excessive sweating
The three main causes of heavy, or increased, sweating, are diet, drugs, and genetics. A disease called hyperhidrosis affects about 5% of the world's population. It can affect the whole body, but also isolated areas such as the feet, hands, or just the face.
And cosmetics are, surprisingly, not a solution: on the contrary, treating the problem with deodorants or perfumes will only mask odour and perspiration temporarily... They may even cause skin irritation. Instead, go for a simple antiperspirant, the least aggressive possible.
How to fight against it?
Poor diet and low hydration can make you sweat. The less fat you eat and the more water you drink, the less you'll worry about sweating. Also, increase your intake of potatoes. Garlic, onions, and spices should be avoided if you want to avoid smelling strong.
Drink grape juice and tomato juice, which help the body to regulate its temperature. Skip alcohol and caffeine, which will make you sweat profusely because of the stress on the body that they cause.
Stress is your enemy. Try to relax and avoid anything that can cause harmful excitement. Try decompression and yoga, for example.
Aerate your skin and feet, by walking barefoot and wearing lighter, looser clothing. Wear cotton rather than synthetic materials. And in case of extreme emergency, what you need as a last resort is a change of clothes, including socks.
