Forced to have to withdraw
The news of the withdrawal broke out after his promoter, Frank Warren, shared on social media that the formerLove Island star contracted a bacterial chest infection and suffered a broken rib. In a statement made by Fury, he said:
I am absolutely heartbroken that I have been forced to withdraw from my fight with Jake Paul due to a bacterial infection and broken rib. The beginning of my camp was going so incredibly and I never expected anything to come in my way from a victory of December 18th.
And added:
I can't express how disappointed I am, and I really do hope we can get this fight rescheduled in the new year. I want this fight to happen more than anything. I'm now regretfully putting my focus on recovery and a further reschedule date.
Jake Paul's shady response
Since officially having to pull out from the fight, Jake Paul released a video calling out Fury for being 'boxing's biggest b**ch.' In a video he posted online, the controversial athlete questioned the legitimacy of Fury's medical setbacks and said:
I couldn't believe the news at first—it still doesn't even seem real. I've fought with a broken nose, I've fought sick. Get over it, this is boxing.
Before adding:
It's official—I think he's scared, the pressure got to him.
To make up for the last-minute cancellation, Jake Paul is now set to fight Tyron Woodley in a rematch on 18 December.
