Diet, the basis of the six-pack
This is the key to maintaining your positive results. If you worked hard for months to successfully get a six-pack, don’t let it go to waste now. Having a balanced diet avoids too much fat being stored on the abdominal muscles.
Work all the muscles in the body
Continuing to exercise is an important step in maintaining abs. Don’t concentrate on a single muscle group but try to work them all, the results will be more balanced.
Don’t hesitate to do full-body sessions either.
‘One whole-body session will work your metabolism for two days’ says Craig Rasmussen, a licensed coach at Men’s Health.
Don’t focus on only crunches
When working the abs don’t be under the impression that a long series of crunches will do the trick. The abs are a muscle like any other and its necessary to vary positions otherwise they will build up a resistance.
There are several variations when working the abs, including from the top, middle, bottom and don't forget about the obliques. So focus on whatever exercises work best for you.
Planks are also recommended and are more effective than more mobile exercises. Several variations also exist if you find yourself getting tired of them.
Keep moving throughout the day
Finally try to stay as active as possible throughout the day. Going for a short run in the evening is great for the abs. If not, try to be active in the office and walk to and from work. A little more effort means less calories which is what allows your six-pack to stay visible.
