The Notorious is once again calling out Mayweather for a rematch and he’s got one condition: this time, it’s in the Octagon. McGregor wants to remind everyone that it was in fact Floyd Mayweather himself that initially proposed the idea of round 2 happening in MMA. McGregor gave Mayweather a fight in his playground, now it’s time that the boxer join the Irishman in his native stomping grounds: “Originally, he said an MMA fight next. He was talking about an MMA fight next. That’s what he said before the fight. So, what’s he going to do? Does he want another fight? In my head I’m thinking, get one of these boxing guys to come over into my world now.”

Never one to shy away from a fight, The Notorious has stated that he wouldn’t be opposed to giving it another go in the boxing ring: “What’s sickening me is that the little motherf—ker is retired now. I know if I went another go with him, under boxing rules, I’d get that win. I know that,” the Irish fighter said. McGregor is no stranger to the sum of money that comes along with a fight of this calibre, and his timing couldn’t be more impeccable. With talks of money problems for Mayweather, McGregor seems to know the best strategy for calling the undefeated boxer out of retirement: “Let’s see how he handles this round of money. I might get the phone call again and we may do it again.”
For Conor McGregor, the priority this year is defending his belt in the UFC therefore plans for a rematch may have to be put on the backburner. Conor may have his sights set on another opponent in the meantime as well – Malignaggi, in MMA: “"He’s the biggest poser in combat sports. I watched him in his fights. I’ve seen him face to face. He puts on an act. He’s a con artist and he’s conned all the idiot fans.” Between his title defences and the potential fights with Mayweather and Malignaggi, 2018 is shaping up to be massive for the Notorious.
