The facts date back to 2018, in a hotel, just after Germany's elimination from the World Cup in Russia. Boateng allegedly threw a lantern at his former girlfriend before hitting her with an insulated box. The mother of his two children accuses the Olympique Lyonnais player of sticking a thumb in her eye and then pulling her to the ground by her hair.

Jerome Boateng denies the facts, but the Munich court was obviously not convinced and ordered him to pay a hefty fine. The former couple are still in court over the custody of their twin daughters, who currently live with the Olympique Lyonnais recruit.
In February 2021, another ex-girlfriend of the ex-Manchester City player took her own life at a flat in Berlin.
