The Highlight vs The Notorious?
Discover our latest podcast
Everyone wants a piece of Conor McGregor. The only downside is that no one can say with any certainty that they are next on the Irishman's list. The reason? The Notorious is more present on Twitter than in the octagon as of late. Indeed, on social networks, the Irishman gives the impression of wanting to fight every two weeks. Frankie Edgar, Donald Cerrone, Nate Diaz, Khabib, he wants them all. However, his return is still awaited.
If a thumb injury is the main reason for the delay in his comeback, Conor McGregor will have to fight if he wants to stay in the Top 5 of a category at an extremely high level. Facing him are two possible choices, Justin Geathje, or Dustin Poirier. Gaethje has been showing his interest for several months now in a fight against the former two-time UFC champion. Invited to TMZ with all his comrades from Dominance MMA, Justin Gaethje took the opportunity to make a few comments about his colleague in the under 11 stone category.
‘He keeps tweeting he’s going to fight. On planet Earth, there are two people who could possibly fight him. Me or Dustin Poirier. He’s only fought two times in the lightweight division in his whole career. He’s fought two times, he lost one and won one. He’s ranked No. 3 for some odd reason. He needs to either go away or fight. I think it’s either me or Dustin. He replied to Dustin on social media.
He will not reply to me. I wrote him a message seven months ago just trying to be his friend. I’m trying every route. I’m trying to reverse psychology. I’m trying to be his friend. I’m trying every f*cking route there is to draw this man out and I can’t draw him out. He’s calling out Frankie Edgar. It’s a slap in the face to me, all the other lightweights and to the standard we do here.’
Conor McGregor’s return is expected in late 2019 or early 2020, and as Justin Gaethje announced, it seems that the Irishman will fight either Dustin Poirier or Gaethje. In both cases, it will offer an incredibly exciting matchup for fans.
