A build up of tension and aggression
Earlier in the week, audio footage was released in which a furious Tom Cruise could be heard on the set of the seventh instalment of Mission Impossible, going on a ballistic rant towards production crew for breaching COVID distancing measures.
An insider told the Sun:
The first outburst was big but things haven't calmed since. Tension has been building for months and this was the final straw. Since it became public there has been more anger and several staff have walked. Tom just can't take any more after all the lengths they have gone to just to keep filming at all. He's upset others aren't taking it as seriously as him. In the end, he's the one who carries the can.
The American actor has been said to have taken social distancing rules very seriously throughout the course of filming that is currently taking place at Warner Bros. Studio, in the UK. But when two crew members were seen standing closer than two meters from each other, the 58-year-old completely lost his cool and proceeded to scold them by threatening to fire them if they repeated the offence.
Cruise can be heard in the audio recording saying to one staff member:
I'm on the phone with every f***ing studio at night, insurance companies, producers, and they're looking at us and using us to make their movies. We are creating thousands of jobs, you motherf***ers
COVID-19 pressures rising to the surface
A source close to the production team explains that Cruise feels responsible for the movie to be completed while respecting the safety measures put into place after so much time and money have been injected into the project so that filming could continue.
