Recently, Khalifa shared with her 20 million Instagram followers a warning for other girls to stay away from the porn industry after her own haunting experience and reveals that because her videos are still available online she is still receiving death threats. And, she was only paid $12,000 (£9,600) for the videos that Khalifa made back in 2014.
After her announcement, Khalifa's followers decided to take justice into their own hands and start a petition to get her porn removed from PornHub and BangBros. The petition has taken off and has already gained 1.5 million signatures. The petition reads:
The infamous hijab video has collected ISIS death threats that have targeted Mia from the video’s release in 2014 to today. Mia attends therapy on a consistent basis for trauma, emotional distress, and consequences of bullying.
It continues:
Mia and her team have provided countless financial offers to the current owners of her domain name and pornographic videos to no avail. Big corporations are not giving Mia Khalifa a fair chance to demand her content in court due to financial advantage. We are demanding her domain names be returned, her videos be removed and fairly discussed in court without putting Mia Khalifa into deep financial ruin. Mia has stated her regret for her decisions in the porn industry multiple times.
The petition has also generated some strongly worded comments criticising the porn industry. One viewer commented:
Her videos being up without her being payed is so wrong.
Another stated:
This is just plainly wrong, she deserves to be released from her past and it’s just disgusting they refuse to remove those videos.
And a third commenter eloquently stated what was really on everyone's minds:
F**k Pornhub.
Mia Khalifa has thanked her followers for standing up for her and has also made the announcement that anyone who signs the petition is invited to her birthday.
