Advocate for mental health
The Duke of Sussex will be taking on the position of Chief Impact Officer at a San Francisco-based startup called BetterUp—a coaching and mental health company. The job description calls for public advocacy on topics related to mental health while also being involved in initiatives that include product strategy decisions and charitable contributions.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Prince Harry said of his new role:
I intend to help create impact in people’s lives. Proactive coaching provides endless possibilities for personal development, increased awareness, and an all-round better life.
This comes as no surprise as the Prince has been vocal about his struggles with mental health throughout his life that were triggered by his mother Princess Diana's death when he was 12 yeas old. He has revealed having sought professional help to help him through the process of coming to terms with years of shutting off all his emotions.
No special treatment given to Prince Harry
BetterUp's CEO, Alexi Robichaux, has revealed that Prince harry has been working for the company for well over 2 months and that he his not getting any special treatment as a former active member of the Royal Family:
He's been in the role for a couple of months, and we're so excited to share the news with the world. We're partners here, he likes to be called Harry in the workplace, so we just address him as Harry.
Adding that:
We were just so impressed, and really I think there was such a natural chemistry and synergy around the insights and the contributions he can make creatively to BetterUp in ensuring that we achieve our mission.
