One of the most romantic love tales in Hollywood has come to an end. Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet announced their divorce in a joint statement posted on his verified Instagram account on Wednesday. 42-year-old Momoa and 54-year-old Bonet met in 2005 and began dating before marrying in late 2017. They have a son and a daughter together.

Bonet was formerly married to artist Lenny Kravitz and rose to popularity as one of Bill Cosby's daughters on The Cosby Show and its sequel, A Different World. The two met in 2005 before Momoa became famous for playing Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones, however, rumour has it he had his eyes on Bonet long before then.
Social Spilt
Momoa issued a joint statement on Instagram late Wednesday night on January 12, on behalf of himself and Bonet. Bonet is officially not on social media. The Aquaman star helped Bonet with raising actress Zoe Kravitz, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Grammy winner Lenny Kravitz. The two got married in 2017 in a secret ceremony.
Momoa and Bonet stated that the choice to publicly announce their separation was made so that as they go about their lives, they may do so with dignity and honesty, rather than because 'it's newsworthy.' They added:
The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other ~to be who we are learning to become…
Childhood crush
Momoa previously admitted to having a long-standing crush on Bonet. During a 2017 appearance on James Corden's Late Late Show, he quipped:
Ever since I was like, eight years old and I saw her on the TV, I was like, ‘Mommy, I want that one.'
The following year, Bonet told Porter that the couple had been together since the day they met when they had a lunch of Guinness and grits. She lauded Momoa at the time, calling him a rare sort of masculinity in this day and age. Momoa is said to be close friends with both Zoe and Lenny Kravitz.
