2. Major Hugh Lindsay
Major Hugh Lindsay, a former equerry to the Queen, died while skiing off-piste at the Swiss resort of Klosters. He was 34 years old.

3. Alfonso, Duke of Anjou and Cádiz
Grandson of King Alfonso XIII of Spain and potential heir to the throne, Alfonso died after colliding with a cable at the finish line of a course in Beaver Creek Resort, Eagle County, Colorado, on 30 January 1989.
4. Sonny Bono
Sonny Bono, was a singer, actor and politician who came to prominence thanks to the commercial success he found with his second wife—Goddess of Pop, Cher—with their duo Sonny and Cher. Bono died after succumbing to injuries he incurred when he hit a tree while skiing at Heavenly Mountain Resort in South Lake Tahoe, California.
5. Michel Trudeau
Youngest son of former Canadian Prime Minister, Pierre Trudeau and brother to current Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, Michel Trudeau (pictured centre in 1981) died as a result of an avalanche on November 13, 1998, aged 23. He was swept into Kokanee Lake and unable to reach the shore. His body has never been found.
6. Prince Friso of Orange-Nassau
Prince Friso (pictured far left in 1980) was a member of the Dutch Royal Family. While skiing off-piste, Prince Friso was trapped under an avalanche in Leche, Austria. He suffered massive brain damage due to hypothermia and oxygen shortage. He remained in a coma for a year and a half before passing away due to complications.
