The renounced racer, Lewis Hamilton, 36, who is currently a Formula One driver for Mercedes, is knighted today by Prince Charles, at an Investiture at Windsor Castle this morning.

Arise Sir Hamilton
Hamilton, a seven-time Formula One world champion, was knighted for his contributions to the sport. After Sir Jackie Stewart in 2001, Sir Stirling Moss in 2000, and Sir Jack Brabham in 1979, Hamilton will become the fourthFormula One driver to be knighted.
Hamilton, 36, equalled Michael Schumacher's record by capturing sevenWorld Drivers' Championship titles, andhe had been attempting an eighth last Sunday.
This was an early Christmas present for our Mercedes racer, after missing out on being shortlisted for the prestigious BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

On Sunday, Hamilton controversially lost a record eighth Formula One world championship.
Max Verstappen won his first Formula One world title with a spectacular last-lap overtaking of Lewis Hamilton during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. In the last lap, Verstappen had a free run at Hamilton and made his move to win his first Formula One title on significantly quicker tires.
