Child genius

At a young age, she was picked on not only because of her intelligence but also because she had Asperger’s syndrome. Her mother, Nelly Sánchez told Infobae:

[Children with Aspereger’s] do want to have friends, but I feel like they don’t know how [to make them]. It seems that they are in a world that they create. And they could spend all day talking about what they like, like dinosaurs. In the case of Adhara, her world is space.

While the condition did make her life harder when she was growing up, it certainly didn’t stop her from succeeding. By the age of 3 she had already learnt how to read, by 5 she was done with primary school, and before 9 she had graduated from high school.

What is she up to now?

Right now, Perez is currently on her way to completing two master’s degrees online—one in Industrial Engineering and another in Systems Engineering. The Yucatan Times revealed that she is also taking a course in Gravitational Waves and Astronomy. That might sound a lot, but she’s actually not done studying.

She’s hoping to study astrophysics at the University of Arizona and wants to one day become a cosmonaut with NASA.The Mazatlan Post reported that the university has already offered her a spot, along with a scholarship, but she hasn’t been able to attend due to visa complications.

Apart from being a certified genius, she's also been working for people with autism and shares her efforts regularly on her Instagram page. On 22 August, she posted a throwback of her speaking at the 'First Autism Spectrum Forum in 2019' and said that she hopes to be able to attend the conference once again 'after the control of the pandemic.'

Most recently, she was compensated for all her achievements by Mexico’s Senate of the Republic and was recognised as one of the 100 most powerful women in Mexico.
