'We are in shock and totally devastated'
The mother-of-one had been battling with diabetes, which doctors believe is the reason her immune system was unable to ward off the virus. Her condition deteriorated so quickly that she was admitted herself to Queen Elizabeth Hospital before being put into the intensive care unit, where doctors decided to put her to sleep. Her cousin, Ellesse Strong explained:
We are just in shock and totally devastated. Shreece hadn't been out for a long time but decided to go out with her boyfriend and that's where we believe she caught covid. She started to feel very unwell and struggled to breathe.
Adding:
While she was asleep she was on dialysis for her kidneys, oxygen for her lung, blood pressure support and she had blood clots near her heart, she also caught numerous infections so had to take antibiotics.
COVID orphans another child
After trying to wake her up on several occasions, her conditioned only seemed to worsen by the minute and ultimately took the women's life on 8 October. With a devastated daughter now left without a mother, the family has decided to start a GoFundMe page to help out with the cost of the funeral and to help give three-year-old Raelle a birthday party to lift her spirits. Strong said:
We always had plans for a fourth birthday for Realle and we want to give her a wonderful party. She is very sad as she has lost her mummy and we want to do something to try and put a smile back on her face and give her the party her mum would have wanted.
