Several video clips posted on social networks show a person approaching the vehicle to set it on fire.
Although there was a security guard nearby, the car couldn't be saved. According to Loire-Atlantique's Directorate of Public Security (DDSP), the perpetrators prevented him from intervening, then fled the scene:
"while one of them blocked the security guard's door, another broke the right-side window of the Scenic vehicle and poured something that fueled the fire inside." The security guard, who was assaulted, filed a complaint, adds the news website.

The artwork, which was created by the street art company Royal de Luxe, was placed in this working-class area of Nantes on November 17, just a few days before the incident.
