Low self-esteem
In the past, 26-year-old Donnie felt very uncomfortable with who he was and had no self-confidence. He told the Daily Mail:
Over several years I had been isolating myself and making efforts to tone down my less-than-pragmatic impulses, out of fear and lack of confidence - and I was extremely miserable. After going in circles for far too long, I decided to quit hiding, break myself out of stagnation and remake my life as I’d like it to be, and redirect it to the pursuit of a life I’d actually be happy to live.
He discovered the world of tattoos when his sister first got one back in 2017. He then decided to get his own and coloured a part of his leg in blue. This tattoo was like a revelation for him and he consequently decided to get his entire body tattooed in the same turquoise blue colour.
To be honest, I just like the look of it. I thought it would be neat. It’s definitely striking and I think it’s a beautiful colour.
Because he is an active member on social media, it didn’t take long for internet users to discover this ‘new side’ to Donnie. But the comments he receives for his appearance are very divided:
I get all kinds of comments and reactions when I’m out. Some people love the tattoo, others are clearly not thrilled about it. Most insults are unimaginative and predictable. In fact, most can be lumped together in the category of ‘unflattering comparisons to other things that are blue.
But despite this, Donnie feels much freer and is finally enjoying his life, as he explains:
I feel a renewed optimism about the feasibility of pursuing wild dreams. I feel as if I’m slowly becoming re-energised after a protracted period of stagnation. I might become a trillionaire, or move to Mars. Or just carry on selling earrings and get my bus fixed up.
So there you have it. A funny way to feel fulfilled, it has to be said, but at least he has found his happiness, even if it is in a rather unusual way. Check out the video above to see pictures of this unusual man!
