Born March 11, 1949, the Dutchman Emile Ratelband is now 69 years old. He believes he looks much younger. So he decided to go to court in Arnhem in the Netherlands to have his birth date officially changed. He wants to change his birthdate to March 11, 1969 - making him 49 years old.

‘When I’m 69, I am limited. If I’m 49, then I can buy a new house, drive a different car,’ he said. ‘I can take up more work. When I’m on Tinder and it says I’m 69, I don’t get any match. When I’m 49, with the face I have, I will be in a luxurious position.’

Mr Ratelband further argued that according to his doctors he has the body of a 45-year-old, and described himself as a "young god". The self-proclaimed positivity guru argued that he feels 20 years younger, and compared the age difference to being transgender, despite the concepts being completely different. The Dutchman said he is discriminated against because of his age, and that he encounters problems in society on a daily basis.

‘You can change your name. You can change your gender. Why not your age? Nowhere are you so discriminated against as with your age,’ says Emile.

The court is due to deliver a written ruling within four weeks.
