Japan is a country already known for housing out-of-the-ordinary attractions, and this might be its coolest one yet. A zany Argentinian artist recently unleashed his latest brainchild there: a pool that leaves you dry.

Underwater…but completely dry!
In the video, we can see people that are underwater but completely dressed. As you can probably guess from watching, this work of art is actually a genius optical illusion… but that doesn’t make the whole thing any less astonishing.
A simple trick
It is, in fact, a completely ordinary pool covered with a transparent plate with a thin layer of water on it. Seen from above, though, it appears that people are actually submerged. Impressive! And like a ‘real’ pool, there’s even a ladder that crosses the plate and seems to lead to the surface. It’s easy to imagine someone climbing it and touching the plate above.
Claustrophobic types should probably beware...but despite the tight space, we have to admit that we’d love to try this one out ourselves!
