Her partner was practicing oral sex when it happened. At the moment of reaching orgasm, the woman lost consciousness, which was revealed afterwards to have been due to a stroke.
She was unconscious for 3 minutes, before her partner called for help. She was taken to Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth, in West London, the patient was then back to herself with a headache which she evaluated as being a six out of 10 on the pain scale.
Extensive examinations revealed the presence of blood between the brain and the skull of the woman. Following a CT scan, doctors discovered that her stroke was caused by a small aneurysm, which burst during her passionate encounter.
Sex increases blood pressure
It is well known that sex increases the heart rate and these effects have already been observed by scientists: ‘The monitoring of the arteries during sex, showed that during sexual intercourse, the arterial pressure and the heart rate were subjected to changes including an increase at the moment of orgasm.‘
Finally, after two weeks of hospitalisation, the patient was able to return home.
