To reach this conclusion, 68,000 men and women aged between 45 and 83 were studied over a period of 16 years. They all followed an anti-inflammatory diet that consisted of eating fruit, vegetables, cheese which was low in fat, nuts... not to mention small indulgences. We are talking about coffee, tea, chocolate and alcohol in moderate amounts.
This lifestyle reduces the risk of death from all causes by 18%.
Professor Joanna Kaluza, in charge of this study explains that ‘we know that fruits, vegetables, tea, coffee, red wine, beer and chocolate are rich in antioxidants (...) our dose- response analysis indicates that even a partial adherence to an anti-inflammatory diet can be beneficial for your health.’
