The coronavirus outbreak is said to have started in China and is quickly and easily spreading to other continents. But according to the WHO, ever since March, some countries in Europe such as Italy and Spain have been affected by this pandemic more than others.

In Spain for example, there have been more than 200,000 confirmed cases and the chilling number of deaths is constantly on the rise. According to the worldinfo.org, 23,190 people have lost their lives to the virus in Spain, and the UK recently broke the 20,000 death toll mark.
Although we know that the main complication linked to this virus is breathing difficulties and subsequent complications for the rest of your respiratory system, the truth is this virus doesn’t affect everyone in the same way.
This has been proved by the fact that lots of people don’t actually show symptoms of the virus which therefore increases how quickly it has and is continuing to spread throughout the population. Whereas many other people, unfortunately, experience very serious symptoms which require them to be hospitalised.
Despite that fact that we originally thought that only the elderly and the vulnerable ran the risk of becoming infected, the truth is that we’ve even seen cases of young, seemingly healthy people being admitted to ICUs in hospitals.
But there are actually lots of other people who have presented some rather ‘unusual’ symptoms and have subsequently decided to open up about their experiences as COVID-19 patients. Just like this 34-year-old woman from Russia, for example:
According to various media sources, the patient, who explained that her symptoms began with just a dry cough and a tight, scratchy chest, was later admitted to hospital with a 40-degree fever, bilateral pneumonia and it was also suspected that she had the coronavirus.
In an interview with a Russian media outlet the woman stated:
‘My fever got really high and didn’t go down, but I didn’t have a sore throat or a runny nose. I just felt weak and pain in my body as well as gastrointestinal distress.’
The woman also revealed that everything she ate tasted bitter and powdery, and she also experienced a lot of nausea.
‘You hear the crackling of your lungs every time you breathe, as if someone was crumpling a piece of paper or a bag. Every time I had a coughing fit, I felt like I was choking and tears would fill my eyes. I thought I wasn’t going to make it home.’
