The video was taken by Jost Kobusch, a german mountain climber who has had a number of expeditions under his belt prior to this day, but nothing could have prepared him for what was about to happen.

On April 25, 2015, an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale hit Nepal and a number of surrounding countries causing the ground to tremble and shake violently. This movement triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest that would prove to be the deadliest to date.
The footage depicts the moment's climbers resting at the mountain base camp gather around as their feeling the Earth shake beneath their feet. Looks and confusion and excitement quickly turn to terror when the video pans past the shoulder of some climbers who see a giant white cloud tumbling towards them.
Curiosity quickly turns into fear and panic as the climbers realize this is an avalanche that is headed right for their camp. They turn to run from the inevitable catastrophe and realize quickly that they need to take cover. Jost who's filming the event decides to take cover behind a tent along with another climber who appears to only be wearing a t-shirt.
As the avalanche hits you can hear Jost yell in terror as well as other climbers being caught in the sudden disaster. He offers the man who's taking shelter behind the tent with him to huddle up underneath his coat for warmth and protection from the snow.
As the snow settles they emerge and you can hear voices in the distance searching for others who may have been buried beneath the snow. Nothing could have prepared them for this deadly tragedy which became one of the most tragic events to occur on Mount Everest.
