Drinking outside will no longer be a thing of the past. As of 12 April of this year, we will once again be able to enjoy a nice cold beer outside just in time for things to progressively go back to normal. Takeaway plastic cups will be sold at pubs starting on that date provided the virus remains contained enough for numbers to stay at a minimum.

A very exciting return to normalcy
Earlier in the week, PM Boris Johnson announced his roadmap out of lockdown and saying that people were excited would be a major understatement. News broke out that music festivals would be returning as regularly scheduled every summer.
Schools are set to reopen on 8 March marking the end of at-home learning which many parents and experts believed was a rather counter-productive way for pupils to get their education.
Beer gardens have also been set to reopen their doors to the public on 29 March meaning that more and more forms of socializing will become available after having been subjected to three national lockdowns in the past year. A report that came out in the Times claims that:
It is possible that those with outside spaces will be allowed to start serving customers as early as April, however it is likely to take longer before indoor service can return.
We should nevertheless remain vigilant
Boris Johnson's roadmap explains that:
Ahead of Step 4, as more is understood about the impact of vaccines on transmission and a far greater proportion of the population has been vaccinated, the Government will complete a review of social distancing measures and other long-term measures that have been put in place to limit transmission.
Meaning that despite the good news and the tentative plan to safely get us out of lockdown, we must continue to respect social distancing safety measures to prevent a fourth lockdown from happening. As of yesterday, the UK reported just under 10,000 new COVID-19 cases –some of the lowest figures recorded since the emergence of the third wave.
