Reading and Leeds festival back on schedule this summer

Good news for music festival lovers: the Reading and Leeds Festival is set to go forward this summer, according to organizers.

After PM Boris Johnson announced yesterday his tentative roadmap scheme to take us out of lockdown with the 21 June marking the official date for all legal limits on social contact to be removed, the festival organizers made a post on twitter revealing their big plans:

Reading and Leeds 2021 Following the government's recent announcement, we can't wait to get back to the fields this summer LET'S GO #RandL21.

The event will run form 27 to 29 of August with identical line-ups performing on alternate days. You can expect to see Liam Gallagher, Gerry Cinnamon, Charli XCX, Queens of the Stone Age, Stormzy, Lewis Capaldi, Mabel and Post Malone with other performances being revealed in the coming months.

Not everyone is excited about the announcement

However, some people were concerned that it might be too early to ease off on restrictions claiming that it would perhaps be best to wait even longer before we go back to normality.One Twitter user said:

Let's go spreading Covid and putting us back in another lockdown, irresponsible if you ask me.

With another one sharing similar sentiments:

wow....gather a whole load of unvaxxed people together , throw social distancing out the window , no hand hygiene.....result = kiss goodbye to next autumn n winter. .. thanks for announcing next year is cancelled too

As things currently stand, schools reopening on 8 March is the earliest sign of restrictions loosening. Following that date, the rule of six between two households on 29 March will be introduced. On May 17, we could see some more limited amount of social mixing be allowed.
