For most prisoners, freedom is outside the prison walls. But for an Albanian man living on the outskirts of Rome, Italy, his liberation is within those walls. He asked to be sent to jail to avoid living with his wife and family.

‘I Want Out’
The 30-year-old Albanian citizen living in Guidonia Montecelio, outside Rome, told police he could no longer cope with the forced cohabitation with his wife.
According to a statement released by the Carabinieri police from nearby Tivoli, the man, who was under house arrest for drug-related crimes, left home and presented himself to the police.
The statement read:
Exasperated by the situation, he preferred to escape, spontaneously presenting himself to the Carabinieri to ask to serve his sentence behind bars.
He had been under house arrest for several months with few years left to serve. But, he decided he could not stand his family any more and was better off spending the rest of the time behind bars.

Captain Francesco Giacomo Ferrante of the Tivoli Carabinieri told AFP.
He lived at home with his wife and family. It wasn't going well anymore. He said, 'Listen, my domestic life has become hell, I can't do it any more, I want to go to jail.
The man was promptly arrested for violating his house arrest, and judicial authorities ordered his transfer to prison.
