Knock-knock… When his coffin had been placed in the ground and the bagpipes were playing to say goodbye, Shay knocked on the lid.
'Help, let me out!'
Of course, the crowd at his funeral then looked at each other in shock, but what exactly was going on?
Shay continued:
Where the f*** am I? Let me out, let me out, it's f***ing dark in here. Is that a priest I can hear? This is Shay. I'm in the box. No in f***ing front of you. I'm dead.
All around his grave, people started to laugh.
He sang:
Hello again hello, hello I just called to say goodbye.
While he was suffering from an incurable disease, the lively Irishman recorded a message for those close to him just before he died. He wanted to brighten up his funeral with one last joke of his own.
A farewell to social media
His daughter posted the video on social media in order to share it with the rest of the world.
She wrote, throwing in the hashtag #ShaysLastLaugh on the post as well:
What a man. To make us all laugh when we were incredibly sad. He was some man for one man. Love you forever Poppabear.
Since then, the video has been viewed 133,000 times on Facebook and over 662,000 times on Twitter! A well-deserved posthumous joke. Shay did well: he managed to make people laugh even in the worst of times.
