Jeff Bezos’ fortune is shot up significantly in the past years and it seems it's not due to stop any time soon. Currently at the head of a colossal empire estimated to be worth $144 billion by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the CEO of Amazon could see his worth reach $1 trillion by 2026 if it continues to rise at the current rate. The then 62-year-old will be the very first person in history to hit this massive number.

This figure was estimated by a study carried out by Comparisun. To come up with the figure, the company calculated the average annual growth of the 25 wealthiest individuals in the world over the last five years, then projected that figure over the course of 30 years.
The big winner of the current health crisis
Since Jeff Bezos’ fortune has increased by an average of 34% annually over the past five years, his worth could theoretically reach a record-breaking $1,000,000,000,000 (that's a lot of zeroes) by 2026… or maybe even a little earlier.
The CEO of Amazon, who owns 11% of the shares of the e-commerce giant, could actually be one of the big winners in the current coronavirus crisis and the lockdowns that several countries are currently in thanks to Amazon stock prices, which have soared by 28% since the start of the year. Bezos has made quite a bit of money thanks to this lockdown, seeing his personal bank balance increase by 20% (or $25 billion).
If Jeff Bezos’ worth really does reach the $1 trillion benchmark, the businessman will be worth more than the individual GDPs of 179 countries with a combined population of 3.4 billion people, or 43.7% of all humans. As for the head of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg, he could, according to Comparisun, become the youngest trillionaire in history by 2036, 10 years after Jeff Bezos, at the age of 51.
