Ah, the Brisbane's Riverfire airshow would explain it.
Whilst fearsome spectators were absolutely bewildered as a result of this seemingly crazy stunt, it turned out that it was actually a rehearsal for the upcoming airshow at the South Bank parklands in Australia.
Whilst the RAAF reassured the public that unless the pilots "had a synchronised heart attack or catastrophic plane failure", everything was going a-okay, the rest didn't think so.
Some claimed it was "stupid and dangerous" and others argued that "it would only take one mistake" before several buildings could be taken down.
Despite the seemingly outrageous stunts, around 500,000 people attended the airshow which was deemed to be "one of the best firework display shows of all time". Well, I suppose there's only one thing to say to that - phew!
