A video clip showing the 'murder' of George Floyd revealed the incredible violence and racism that still exists among certain members of the police.
After the death of her father, George Floyd's daughter Gianna sent an incredibly emotional and hopeful message on Wednesday, June 3:
Dressed in white, 6-year-old Gianna looked like an angel. Her smile and message of peace had a real impact on internet users who left hundreds of messages on her video showing their support.
On 2nd June, Roxie Washington, Gianna’s mother and George Floyd’s former partner, also delivered an emotional tribute to him during a press conference in Minneapolis:
I don't have a lot to say, because I can't get my words together right now, but I want everybody to know that this is what those officers took. At the end of the day, they get to go home and be with their families. Gianna does not have a father. He will never see her grow up, graduate; he will never walk her down the aisle. I'm here for my baby, and I'm here for George because I want justice for him. I want justice for him 'cause he was good. No matter what anybody thinks, he was good
NBA player Stephen Jackson, who saw George Floyd as his brother, also spoke out to express his grief and make promises to the family of the man he considered and has previously referred to as his twin:
But you know what, there's a lot of stuff you said that he's going to miss, that I'm going to be there for. I’m going to walk her down the aisle, I'm going to be there for her, I'm going to be there to wipe your tears. I'm going to be here for you and Gigi. Floyd might not be here, but I'm here for her. I'm here to get justice, and we're going to get justice for my brother.
