Beside the fact that the driver seen was, not only distracted, but more concentrated on her phone than the road as she drove amongst poor weather conditions. Susan and Graeme were shocked to see a fellow road user demostrating such careless behaviour on a busy road and decided to film the encounter.
The clip shows the female driver engrossed in her phone whilst she lightly taps the steering wheel as to steady the vehicle. The driver is then seen letting both hands off the steering for up to 5 seconds as she concentrates on typing during rush hour traffic, before finally realising she was being filmed.
"You can see her in the video looking up and down as she sends a text or email while she's driving, and we watched her take her hands off the wheel a few times.
"Then she spotted Sue filming her and put the phone down, so I sped up so we could get her number plate," Graeme explained.
"We're trying to get the clip in front of police officers because what she was doing was so, so dangerous and it's only right that something is done about it," the couple concluded.
Mobile phone laws were enacted with a fine of £60 and 3 points on the user's driving licence in 2007, after initially being established in 2003. Since 2013, the fine had been increased to £100 until finally 2017 met another increase, doubling to £200.
